My journey

I started my development journey in secondary school. I started playing Counter Strike, and became addicted to it. It got to the point, where I literally spent all my free time in front of the computer playing, and grinding. With this being my primary focus at that time, I neglected my academics, and my future career, life. When the time came, to choose a career path, and go to college, I did not know, where to go, what to learn. My friends wanted to learn Computer Science, took coding classes. That was the closest to my current interests, so heck, i gave it a try.

First line of code

In the class, we started with Pascal. It was in 2018, so don’t ask me why, I have no idea. I’ts safe to say, I did not enjoy my time. My eyes are still bleeding from that blue and yellow Pascal IDE. Just take a look at this…

Also, not focusing on my studies did not help me understand coding. I struggled with basic for loops, nested for loops, and simple stuff like that. I was not sure about choosing it as my career.

University

Somehow, I managed to get into university. It was a painful experience at first… and then even after that… I wasn’t sure about my career, my life goals, and I was not in a good place mentally. The endless amount of theory was overwhelming. Looking back, I simply wasn’t mature enought to understand the importance of it. Eventually, I paused my studies.

The ultimatum

After taking a break from school, I needed to find something to pursue. I liked design, I considered myself a creative person, and knew that coding can be a quite lucrative career path. During my university years, I grew to like coding, especially frontend development. Although during those years, the course only covered the basic stuff, HTML, and CSS, and a minimal Javascript. I decided to focus solely on frontend development, and gave myself an ultimatum. If I managed to secure a job, as a developer, I would not return to finish my studies.

From Dedication to Achievement

I spent the next months in front of my computer, grinding, learning, building. I uninstalled every game, removed social media from my phone. I was in my room, coding, or in the gym. 4 months into the journey, I got my first job offer. I did it.

This was my journey, up until my first job. The grind haven’t stopped, I’m still learning, and getting better each day.
